If there was any doubt about whether Wayne Valley could win without its star quarterback, the Indians erased it pretty quickly in their game against Northern Highlands. Scoring the first five touchdowns, Wayne Valley cruised to a 41-13 road triumph to remain unbeaten. Joe Scancarella returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a score to get the Indians off and running. Will Kearney ran for 138 yards on just seven carries and scored a touchdown to pace the offense. Nick Gould added 61 rushing yards and a score.
Grant Ferrauilo put up strong numbers at quarterback, completing 15-of-21 passes for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ferrauilo also scored a rushing touchdown as he filled in for the injured Nick Goodwin. Jordan Montero caught five passes for the Indians, while Ryan Monteyne and Elijah Beard had touchdown catches. Defensively, Tyler Andreas had two sacks. Northern Highlands got on the scoreboard in the third quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run by quarterback Noah Abdalla. James Peterson scored on a fumble return in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring for the Highlanders, who fall to 2-4. Wayne Valley is now 6-0. The Indians are expected to again be without the explosive Goodwin this coming weekend when they take on Lakeland.
