Wayne Valley had to scratch and claw its way past a determined Fair Lawn team in order to maintain its perfect record. The Indians found a way to do so, recording a 47-40 boys' basketball triumph. With the win, Wayne Valley is now 7-0 on the season.
Nick Goodwin led the way for the Indians, scoring a game-high 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Alex Kokos and Nick Giuliano contributed seven points apiece to the winning cause. Wayne Valley built a six-point lead after the first quarter. Fair Lawn made runs in each of the ensuing periods, but could only get as close as two points. Gal Harari led the Cutters with 13 points. Justin Ortiz and Justin Ensuncho scored 11 points apiece for Fair Lawn, which falls to 2-6 on the season. Wayne Valley, which won the J.P. Flynn Tournament over the holidays in Morris County, is one of about two dozen remaining unbeaten boys' basketball teams in the Garden State.
