The Saddle River Day girls' lacrosse team got the win it needed heading into the state tournament. But it almost got away. The Rebels held on for a 13-12 win over Ramapo in the regular-season finale for both squads. Saddle River Day held a six-goal lead with under six minutes to play, but the Green Raiders scored five straight times to nearly push the game to overtime.
Jackie Wolak had seven goals and two assists to lead the high-powered Rebels' offense. Michaela contributed three goals and four assists. Maggie Kuntz scored twice for Saddle River Day while Dani McMahon had a goal and two assists. Goalie Zoe Fava made 13 saves. Taylor Pani paced Ramapo with six goals and one assist. Dani VanCalcar scored three times with one assist. Kate D'Alessandro scored twice for the Raiders and Emily Sheppard had one goal. The Raiders are 13-4 heading into their first-round state tournament game against River Dell. Saddle River Day, which started the season 14-1, had lost three in a row heading into this game.
