Ridgewood's ice hockey team had been playing much better of late, but still hadn't found its way into the win column. That changed when the Maroons took on Ramapo at the Ice Vault. Ryan Carius scored twice and added two assists to lead Ridgewood to a 4-2 triumph. Ben Reinke also had two goals and notched an assist for the Maroons, who built a 3-0 lead after two periods.
Goalie Ben Rubenstein made 16 saves for Ridgewood. J.P. Kelly had a pair of assists. Ramapo got goals from Michael Pear and Kyle Livernois in the third period to make the game closer. But the Raiders never got another shot on goal after Livernois scored with 2:47 to play. Luke Mutterer had 30 saves for Ramapo, which slips to 2-4-1 on the season. Ridgewood lost four of its first five games of the season, but recorded ties with two of Bergen County's top teams, Glen Rock and Indian Hills, in its prior two contests. This win gives the Maroons a 1-4-3 overall record. For sports video highlights of this New Jersey and Big North Conference high school boys' ice hockey game, click play in the box at left. |
