The Mount St. Dominic softball team finished off a remarkable month of April by winning its 20th game. In a match-up with county rival Nutley, the Lady Lions took care of business for a 9-3 triumph. Kelsey Oh struck out 11 batters while allowing just four hits in earning the win. Elizabeth Cowell had two hits and drove in three runs for Mount St. Dominic, currently ranked the #1 team in New Jersey.
The Lady Lions have managed an incredibly demanding schedule impressively this season. By participating in several weekend events, Mount St. Dominic played 21 games in April and went 20-1, falling only to a team from Delaware. In this contest, Marissa Jenkins went 3-for-3 with two doubles and scored twice. Sarah Taffet, Julianna Kocenski, Helyna Bissell and Emma Carr added RBI hits. Carly Anderson went 2-for-3 for Nutley with a double and two RBI. Emily Holden drove in the other run. The Raiders are now 15-4 on the season. Mount St. Dominic is 16-0 against teams from New Jersey and is 9-0 within Essex County.
