A big five-run rally put Lodi in charge of its sectional quarterfinal softball match-up with Caldwell. The Rams didn't let go of their advantage, recording a 10-4 triumph to move on to the second week of the tournament. The big third inning rally was part of a huge day at the plate for Lodi. The Rams had 19 hits in the game, with Caitlin Hessberger going 4-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
Emma Bernardo had a 3-for-4 effort, driving in two runs for Lodi. Kayla Oakley and Lila Reginald both went 3-for-5, with Oakley driving in one run and scoring two. Nicole Salvatore, Raven Figuccio and Cheyanna Fuchs also had RBIs for the sixth-seeded Rams. Pitcher Bryanna Bigica had to deal with baserunners throughout the game, allowing 10 hits and four walks. But she minimized the damage, permitting Caldwell just two earned runs. The Chiefs got RBI singles from Alyssa Mermini and Taylor Stafford in a two-run rally that cut the Lodi lead to 7-3 after three. But the Rams came right back with two runs of their own in the top of the fourth to reassert control. Caldwell, the third seed in North 2, Group II, sees its season end with a 14-10 record. Lodi improves to 15-8. The Rams will get a home game in the semifinals when they take on #7 seed Hackettstown.
