At halftime of its sectional final, the dream of a perfect season for the Hasbrouck Heights football team appeared to be in danger. But Frank Quatrone made sure the Aviators didn't miss out on their chance at glory. Quatrone, the Hasbrouck Heights quarterback, ran for 275 yards, most of it after halftime, to lead his team to a 30-12 win over New Milford. Quatrone also scored three touchdowns in the North 1, Group I final at MetLife Stadium.
John Iurato added 74 rushing yards and scored a touchdown for the Aviators. Quatrone added a passing threat with 6-for-10 passing for 56 yards; the senior also threw for a pair of two-point conversions to Philip Clites and Philip Viola. New Milford reached this sectional final largely on the running of the record-setting Christian Correa. The senior back had another huge game in this one, rushing for 230 yards on 26 carries and scoring both touchdowns for the Knights. Correa's 84-yard jaunt in the second quarter was the only scoring before halftime. The Knights made several key defensive plays in the first half, including an interception by Rhys Farley. Matt McElroy and Anthony Rivera led the defense with 10 tackles apiece. Ryan Picinic went 12-for-19 passing for 109 yards for New Milford. Farley was the leading receiver with 66 yards on six catches. The Knights, who won four straight must-win games to reach the section final, finish the season at 8-3. Iurato was credited with 18 tackles for the Aviators. Matt DiChiara had 10 tackles and an interception. Hasbrouck Heights finished the year 11-0 and also won the inaugural North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC) playoff championship. The sectional crown is the first for the Aviators since 2007.
