VIDEO: Pingry cruises to victory over Gloucester Catholic
Written by - Tuesday, May 24 2016

Showing no signs of rust from a first-round bye, top-seeded Pingry cruised to a win in the quarterfinals of the Non-Public B boys' lacrosse state tournament. The Big Blue scored the first 13 goals and defeated Gloucester Catholic, 15-6.

Ben Shepard had two goals and three assists for Pingry. Four other Big Blue players--Austin Chang, Jake Moss, Max Cummings and Spencer Duryee--contributed two goals and one assist each as part of a balanced offensive effort.

Chris Dugan and Drew Brosie had a goal and an assist apiece. Pingry spread out the playing time among its entire roster, playing four different goalies and using only reserves in the second half.

For ninth-seeded Gloucester Catholic, the second straight long trip for a playoff game didn't pan out as well as the first. The Rams beat Gill St. Bernard's by seven goals in their opening-round game, but were never in this contest, scoring all of their goals after the game was well in hand.

Mikey Vanaman had two goals for Gloucester Catholic, which finishes the season 10-10.

Pingry is now 13-3. The Big Blue will host the winner of Morristown-Beard and Newark Academy in the Non-Public B semifinals.
